Four States

Today we left Ogden, Utah and drove through Wyoming, into Nebraska, and dropped down to Sterling, Colorado,  Jerry's father, Lee was born here.  They lived in Atwood, about 4 miles from here.  Tomorrow we will go check it out and take pictures.  Then we will go to Winter Quarters in Nebraska.

Beautiful Oregon to Utah

We had a gorgeous drive through the Columbia River Gorge and then on through Snake River country then down to Ogden, Utah.  It was a long day--12 hours.  We stayed at what is the historic Ogden Hotel.  It has a beautiful, ornate ballroom, and a cool lobby.  The rooms were so comfortable, too.  It is a Ben Lomond Hotel.  What I liked was that the hallways to the rooms still looked historic. Plus, they were playing 20s jazz over the soundsystem and in all the hallways.

We Seek For Adventure

Tomorrow we set off--to find life's adventures, and to see as much of this beautiful land as we can.  There are some questions in my mind as we prepare, like, will we enjoy driving from Washington to Florida?  I think we will.  Seeing a new granddaughter will be the best part, and attending her blessing at church will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

On the downside, will we be able to get Alice to bathe?  Will we be able to see to it that she is okay and can care for herself well enough at 95.  The only way she is leaving her place is feet first.  We will do all we can to help her stay there and be cared for. She told me she never naps.  Ha ha.

Spring has arrived here, and I am going to miss so many of the things coming up here in the yard that I am torn about leaving. Adventure awaits though, and we will enjoy spending some time together now.
